Grimoire Bookmarklet

How to use:

  1. Open your game on botc.app with the Grimoire visible.
  2. Click the bookmarklet in your bookmarks bar.
  3. A new tab will open with all interactions for the characters in your current game.

Is this safe?

Yes. This bookmarklet runs entirely in your browser. It simply reads the character names from the page and opens a link - no data is sent anywhere except to this site. Your botc.app session, account, and game data remain completely private and untouched.

Spy

Minion interactions

Each night, Spy sees the Grimoire. The Spy might register as good and as a Townsfolk or Outsider, even if dead.

Interaction with Magician

When the Spy sees the Grimoire, the Demon and Magician's character tokens are removed.

Interaction with Alchemist

An Alchemist-Spy has no Spy ability and a Spy is in play. After each execution, a living Alchemist-Spy may publicly guess a living player as the Spy. If correct, the Demon must choose the Spy tonight.

Interaction with Damsel

If the Spy is (or has been) in play, the Damsel is poisoned.

Interaction with Heretic

Only 1 jinxed character can be in play.

Interaction with Ogre

The Spy registers as evil to the Ogre.

Interaction with Plague Doctor

If the Storyteller would gain the Spy ability, a Minion gains it, and learns this.

Interaction with Poppy Grower

If the Poppy Grower has their ability, the Spy does not see the Grimoire.

Interaction with Beggar

Spy may register as good to the Beggar when giving them their dead vote.

Interaction with Grandmother

Spy can register as a good character to the Grandmother.

Interaction with Librarian

Spy can register as an Outsider to the Librarian.

Interaction with Balloonist

Balloonist may learn the Spy as a Townsfolk or as an Outsider.

Interaction with Fang Gu

Spy, if chosen by the Fang Gu, may become a new Fang Gu, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Farmer

When Farmer dies at night, the Spy might become a Farmer but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Empath

Spy may register as good if sitting next to the Empath.

Interaction with Professor

Spy chosen by the Professor may be resurrected but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Steward

Steward may learn the Spy as a good player.

Interaction with Tea Lady

Spy may register as good to the Tea Lady.

Interaction with Virgin

Spy may be executed immediately if they nominated the Virgin for the first time.

Interaction with Washerwoman

Spy may register as a Townsfolk to the Washerwoman.

Interaction with Recluse

Spy could see the Recluse in the Grimoire as evil or as a Minion or as a Demon but it is not recommended.

Interaction with Courtier

If Courier chose a Townsfolk or an Outsider character, the Spy can be drunk instead but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Gambler

Gambler can die if guessing the Spy as a Spy but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Gambler

Gambler can live if guessing the Spy as a Townsfolk or as an Outsider.

Interaction with Philosopher

Spy may be drunk instead, if the Philosopher chose any good character, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Pit-Hag

Pit-Hag might not create a good character if the Spy is in play, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Imp

Spy might not become a new Imp, when the Imp kills themself, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Klutz

Spy chosen by the Klutz might not end the game, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Choirboy

Choirboy may learn who the Demon is, when Demon kills the Spy, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Huntsman

Spy chosen by the Huntsman might be turned into a not-in-play Townsfolk, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Vizier

Spy may be counted as good when voting, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Evil Twin

Spy may be selected as a good twin but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Godfather

Spy may register as an Outsider to the Godfather.

Interaction with Godfather

Godfather may kill a player when the Spy dies.

Interaction with Leviathan

Executed Spy may register as good but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Fearmonger

If Fearmonger chooses the Spy, and then nominates them and executes, good may lose, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Mezepheles

Spy might be "turned evil" after saying the secret word, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Ojo

Spy may be killed instead, if Ojo chooses a Townsfolk or an Outsider character, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Moonchild

Spy may die if picked by the Moonchild.

Interaction with Lycanthrope

Spy may register as good to Lycanthrope.

Interaction with Minstrel

Spy may not trigger the Minstrel ability after execution, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Preacher

Spy may register as non-Minion to the Preacher, but it's not recommended.

Interaction with Seamstress

Spy can register as being a different alignment than an evil player.

Interaction with Cult Leader

Cult Leader may become good at night if they sit next to the alive Spy.

Interaction with Fortune Teller

The Spy can register as a Demon for the Fortune Teller, but if in any moment of a game the Spy registers as evil then Red Herring token must be moved to another good player and can't be placed on the Spy until the good player with the token will register as evil or become evil. However it's not recommended.

What is a TAG?

A tag describes what a character's ability interacts with or references, not the character itself.

For example, the Chef can have an Evil tag for their interaction because their ability gives information about evil players ("You start knowing how many pairs of evil players there are"), even though the Chef is a good character.

Tags help you search and filter characters based on what their abilities deal with - this could be alignments (evil, good), character types (Outsider, Townsfolk, Minion), game mechanics (drunk, poisoned, death), or any other game element that abilities reference.

Think of tags as categories that make it easier to find characters whose abilities might be relevant to a specific situation or interact with each other during the game.
